The Order of St. John

The Order of St John is a key supporter of mountain rescue
in Scotland, and since 1997 they have provided funding of
more than £2.3 million. 23 teams have been supplied with
vehicles. mainly Landrover LWB Defender 110, and new
bases have been built for a number of teams, with more
requests in the pipeline. In the case of Oban, an available,
redundant fire station was purchased and further funding
allowed an extensive refurbishment.
